Abstract :
Teaching of classical control can be significantly enhanced by incorporation of weekly computer lab sessions, utilizing the MATLAB® Control Systems Toolbox, Symbolic Math Toolbox and SIMULINK®. The paper discusses a basic control course curriculum planning, focusing on the tradeoffs that result from allocating lecture time to computer lab hands-on activities. Some of the specific computer lab activities are highlighted.
