Abstract
Recently a new scheme called “Ion-Channel Laser” (ICL) was proposed. In this concept, a relativistic e-beam injected into plasma of comparable or lower than the beam density, forms an ion-channel by pushing out plasma electrons. Under the influence of the focusing potential of the ion-channel, electrons exhibit betatron oscillations with frequency ~ωp/γ1/2. In linear theory developed on the subject it was shown, that an EM-wave of frequency ~2γ3/2ωp is able to exchange energy with the beam, so being amplified
