Abstract :
Pulse transit time (PTT) is one of the important physiological parameters that can be utilized to predict arterial blood pressure for noninvasive diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. However, the effects of exercise on PTT have not yet been studied systematically. This study examines the change of PTT after treadmill exercise with 10 healthy subjects. PTT-peak and PTT-foot represent the time intervals from the R-wave of electrocardiogram (ECG) to the peak and the foot of PPG signal, respectively. In the experiment, three trials and six trials of ECG and PPG signal are recorded before and after the 4-minute treadmill exercise, respectively. It was found that PTT-foot decreases significantly after exercise (p<0.03) while PTT-peak does not change significantly (p>0.07). Moreover, PTT-foot has smaller variability than PTT-peak after exercise
