Abstract :
This work presents the design of an RFID communication interface intended to be compatible with the ISO/IEC-14443 type A protocol which works in the HF frequency band. The mixed signal design was implemented in a 0.5μm CMOS process, takes its power from the RF signal received by the antenna and is able to receive and send all the types of frames defined by the standard. This paper comprises the characterization of the RF interface, power harvesting and conditioning, and analog and digital circuits used in the communication protocol. The chip was fabricated and tested successfully.
