Abstract :
MIMO antenna systems can improve the performance and the bandwidth efficiency of a wireless communication system greatly, but the existence of the inter symbol interference (ISI) strongly limits its performance over frequency selective (FS) channels. In this paper, a new equalization algorithm, maximum ration combining with decision-feedback equalization (or MRC-DFE shortly), is proposed for MIMO system over FS channels, which combines all the symbol energy scattered in the time domain based on MRC. Simulation results demonstrate MRC-DFE algorithm greatly improve the performance of MIMO system over FS channels and has better performance than MIMO-DFE based MMSE. Moreover, It has another advantage that any other detection method for MIMO system can be combined with it to improve the performance of MIMO system over FS channels.
