Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to quantify the Space Shuttle payload bay electromagnetic environment due to the Ku-band reflector antenna illumination. Both experimental and computational analyses were performed. A series of near-field measurements were performed on the NASA/Johnson Space Center Electronic Systems Test Laboratory (ESTL) rooftop Space Shuttle Orbiter (SSO) Ku-band antenna. Computational investigations were also performed using rigorous electromagnetic modeling techniques.
