Abstract :
A new method for digital modulation recognition in shortwave communications based on wavelet packet and cumulants is presented. It uses wavelet packet transform and cumulants as feature extraction method and hierarchical classifiers based on support vector machines as the classifier. This hierarchical method has higher recognize rate compared with other methods. Classification results for 10 modulation types including FSK, PSK etc. show that the method has encouraging recognition performance in low SNR.
