Abstract :
A performance compromise between AM and QAM transmission in hybrid multichannel AM/QAM fiber optic systems is presented. We discuss the CNR, CSO and CTB of AM signals and the BER of digital signals. For the first time, these parameters are analyzed together in detail to determine the optimum performance of both types of signals in hybrid systems. The influence of the receiver power p0 on AM and QAM signals is illustrated
