Abstract :
New glass display and avionics technology is emerging in the realm of general aviation. The near future will see more and more of these displays being certified for retrofit use in the existing GA fleet, as well as for use in new aircraft. We have conducted a review and feature comparison of primary flight displays (PFD) and multi-function displays (MFD). In addition, we reviewed future display concepts including synthetic vision systems (SVS) that will find their way in the GA fleet under programs such as NASA´s SATS. This paper provides an overview and feature-by-feature comparison of this new technology.
