Abstract
We propose a routing methodology that can satisfy a host of performance constraints arising in thick film MCM problems. Our approach is based on recursively decomposing a complex MCM routing problem into several smaller “tower routing” problems. First, the nets are distributed in all three dimensions in a uniform fashion to avoid over-congested towers. Routing distribution ensures that each tower routing problem is independent. Then, routing is carried out in each tower. During each step, a host of performance constraints are to be satisfied. Experimental evaluation confirms the validity of our methodology. Our router can route all the nets, while satisfying specific performance constraints in reasonable number of layers
