Abstract :
We have developed a monolithic transmitter LSI with 12 LD drivers and a receive LSI with 12 post-amplifiers for a multi channel parallel optical link, using new silicon bipolar processing technology suitable for low power applications. The transmitter and receiver modules, which contain these LSIs for 2.4 Gbps up to 100 m for ATM transmission system, occupy 15×40×100 mm3 respectively and consume a total of 2.9 W. We have accomplished 50% decrease in size and 60% decrease in power consumption, compared to conventional parallel optical modules
