Abstract :
The reconstruction possibility of the refractive index structural characteristic profile in the stochastically inhomogeneous troposphere after the frequency correlation function of amplitude fluctuations is studied. Qualitative analysis of the linear uncorrected Fredholm integral equation of the first kind for the unknown function representing the intensity pattern of a locally homogeneous Carman spectrum of the turbulences, and its kernel, which is the spatial filtering function, is carried out. It is shown that the frequency correlation functions of the amplitude fluctuations are sensitive to the shape of spectrum of the troposphere inhomogeneities but weakly depend on the structural characteristic distance profile. Thus it is found that the problem of reconstruction of the refractive index structural characteristic distance profile after the frequency correlation function of the amplitude fluctuations is ill-conditioned
