  • Abstract
    For buffering of large bandwidth information streams (e.g., video), extremely large buffer sizes will be necessary. But this approach may not be an efficient way to compensate severely delayed cells/blocks experienced at the network. The best way to solve this problem will be minimization of the relative-delayed-transfer of cells/blocks to application processes through ATM network control. For the additional action to minimize a delayed transfer, the mapping between the relative delay parameter (i.e., associative group QoS parameters) and per-VC traffic descriptor will be necessary. The paper presents additional functions and parameters for interpretation of the mapping between the relative delay parameter (i.e., associative group QoS parameters) and per-VC traffic descriptor at ATM API for multimedia application services
