  • Abstract
Using a low-power flip-flop that does not heavily load input circuits, we designed a dual modulus divide-by-128 or 129 prescaler IC for applications in wireless communication services. We fabricated it with 0.35-μm gate-length high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) and direct coupled FET logic (DCFL) technology. The prescaler operates at an input frequency of 2 GHz and has a power dissipation of 0.72 mW at a supply voltage of 0.8 V and of 1.24 mW at 1.2 V. The maximum operating frequencies are 2.35 GHz at 0.8 V and 2.28 GHz at 1.2 V
