Abstract :
Theoretical and experimental investigations of conditions of electron beam forming in axisymmetric focusing system are presented in this paper. Conditions of an electron bunch excitation in an undulator, consisting of ring magnets placed periodically with alternative polarity along a drift channel axis, have been theoretically studied. The relation between bunch dimensions, number of electrons and bunch lifetime has been obtained by using the virial theorem. The undulator motion of nonrelativistic electron beam is experimentally shown in a system with axial symmetrical magnetic disks
