Abstract :
In hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) network, the upstream bandwidth which subscribers use to send a variety of services, is entirely allocated by the headend. Some service classes (such as voice) only use a part of their allocated bandwidth, i.e., there is a redundancy bandwidth. This paper describes a taking redundancy method that uses the redundancy bandwidth to transmit other service classes so as to increase the utilization of the upstream bandwidth
