Abstract :
Fundus photographs were taken from 2848 persons attending a population-based epidemiological study in the region of Augsburg. All images are assessed by ophthalmologists In a structured way. It shows that fundus image assessment by ophthalmologists must be supported by image analysis procedures. In correlation with other information fundus images, especially the vessel status provides valuable information for risk assessment.
