Abstract :
Microplasma modes generated in a three electrode structure, including an auxiliary electrode, were analyzed and application of this structure to PDPs and the BLU of TFT-LCDs was investigated. Highly efficient microplasma was generated in modes 1 and 2. Luminous efficacy was improved by 350% for AC PDPs and 50% for the BLU, respectively.
