Abstract :
Summary form only given. A computerized method for neural spike detection from compound nerve activity has been developed for cardiovascular neural control research. The algorithm consists of three signal processing techniques which involve: (1) detecting the peak and prepeak nadir from recorded compound nerve activities, (2) obtaining a distribution of the amplitude difference between the peak and prepeak nadir and (3) detecting individual neural spikes by a threshold obtained from the distribution. This computerized algorithm can automatically detect individual neural spikes from compound nerve activity.
