Abstract :
The optical and magneto-optical properties of the defect mode in a periodic structure have been demonstrated using a liquid crystal as a defect layer. The results show that, the defect mode in the photonic band gap is sensitive to the thickness scale and a significant enhancement of the Faraday rotation is observed.
