            Abstract :
In this paper we address the limits of the semi-classical models used till now in solid state physics to describe the electronic conductance of a wire. We provide an overview of the quantized conductance behavior reported in plenty of experiments where the width of the wire is approaching nanometer scale. Furthermore, we report a simple and reliable theory that has been provided to explain this behavior and that can be a starting point in order to develop a useful circuit theory. Finally, we describe some circuit applications of the quantized conductance
