Abstract
A novel, frequency-agile combined antenna is proposed and studied. The antenna is composed of a wideband, quasi-omnidirectional tapered slot antenna operated from 5.1 to 10.9 GHz and a narrowband, directional microstrip patch antenna centered at 5.765 GHz. The mutual coupling between the narrowband and wideband element is low, which element isolation is higher than 30 dB within the operating bandwidth. This antenna should be suitable for cognitive radio applications.
