Abstract :
In this paper we present a Markov chain analysis of the error propagation process in block motion compensated video coders which use multiple previous frames in motion compensation. We propose a random lag selection algorithm which randomly selects the matching frame used in motion compensation to improve the robustness of the video coder to channel errors
