Abstract
The design proposed in the paper is dedicated to increasing the realized gain of short backfire antenna (SBA) in the 10% bandwidth. The electrical characteristics of a conventional SBA have been improved by the applications of arc reflector cavity, multilayer cone sub-reflector, a second small reflector and choking coil out of rim. The arc reflector cavity consists of a flat disk, the rim of the cavity and the arc between them. Moreover, the SBA is fed by the wave guide with impedance conversion which can broaden the frequency band appropriately. At last, the simulation results can be provided by HFSS using PML (perfectly matched layer). As a result, these applications can increase the gain from 18.5dB to 20dB, broaden the impedance bandwidth of about 10% for VS WR´s below 2 and improve side-lobe in the L-band.
