Abstract
There has been much technical progress and development in all areas of technology over recent years. The information society, satellite communication and broadcasting are part of this process, and have become a characteristic of the second half of the 20th century. In the global information infrastructure (GII) today, the space segment, on the one hand, plays an integrating role, and on the other, provides an opportunity for individual flexible access to information resources. Obviously the GII will play a leading role in economic development and the well-being of citizens in the 21st century in those countries which are actively participating in it´s development. Currently there are many projects for creating new satellite communication and broadcasting systems, with the operation of these systems planned for the beginning of the 21st century
