Abstract :
This paper proposes a small and simple printed dual-band planar monopole antenna for Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) applications in IEEE802.11a/b/g. The proposed antenna effectively covers both 2.4/5-GHz bands. The antenna comprises of a modified radiating patch element and a ground plane. One rectangular patch is etched on the back of the antenna and connected to the main patch by a via hole, which generates two separate modes for the desired dual-band operations. Moreover, this antenna has symmetrical structure and omni-derectional radiation patterns in horizontal planes, which are very desirable for WLAN applications.
