Abstract :
The effect of homodyne crosstalk, including both coherent and incoherent crosstalk, introduced by optical add/drop multiplexers in wavelength division multiplexing ring/bus networks is studied. It is found that the effect of coherent crosstalk cumulates quickly as the number of nodes through which an optical signal passes increases, while the effect of incoherent crosstalk remains the same. Our results show that coherent crosstalk is the main source of signal degradation when the number of passed nodes is large
