Abstract :
An improved beam tracking method for phased array in mobile satellite reception is introduced. Compare to the conventional hybrid gyroscope based tracking method; the method proposed here has relative fast beam searching and tight tracking capability. With such a gyroscope free tracking method, the phased array system can be used in large acceleration and vibration environments. The prototype system can achieve less than 5 seconds in initial beam searching; the tracking procedure can work under 20~50Hz large vibration with the beam misalignment less than 1°.
