Abstract :
The influence of a parasitic loop on radiation performance of a monofilar helical antenna is analyzed by FEKO software in this paper. It is proposed that the ground plane of a backfire-mode helical antenna can be replaced by a small parasitic loop and a backfire-mode helical antenna without a ground plane is obtained. The influence of the pitch angle and the frequency on its radiation performance is discussed. The conclusions are compared with those of a backfire-mode helical antenna with a reflector.
