  • Abstract
Based on a patient´s anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection therapy clinical data of a new type of Chinese herbs (NTCH, consisting of 13 ingredients) plus adefovir dipivoxil, and our previous modified basic virus infection model [1], a new differential equation model with an immune variable is set up, and aims to describe and understand the dynamics of host cells, viruses, the immune system, as well as predict the long term curative effects. The results of numerical simulations of the model indicate that the dynamics of the model is agreement with in the patient´s plasma HBV DNA levels. The model predicts that it need to eliminate all HBV virus in infected hepatocytes. Otherwise earlier cessation of the therapy will make the patients´ plasma HBV DNA levels return.
