Abstract :
This paper describes a new algorithm for contour extraction employing fuzzy sets theory together with morphological image processing techniques. The contour extraction is accomplished in two stages. The first stage employs fuzzy sets theory to enhance image. The quality of ultrasound image is improved in this stage. The second stage extracts the image contour effectively employing morphological theory. The validity of the approach is demonstrated using several ultrasound images.
