Abstract :
Nonidealities, including high-frequency parasitics, of real CMOS operation transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) are considered in order to determine the frequency performance limitations in OTA-C (OTA and capacitor) filters. In particular, a second-order circuit is analyzed in depth to demonstrate the frequency limitations of practical monolithic two-integrator loop OTA-C filter structures. A test filter constructed using a 3-μm CMOS process is presented, and the experimental and theoretical results are discussed. It is shown how the OTA-C filter limitations depend upon the nonidealities of the OTA and the filter architecture
