Abstract
In millimeter and submillimeter wavelength applications, coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed slot antennas are receiving increasing attention. Various problems in their analysis justify the need to reduce the number of basis functions in the moment method (MoM) scheme for the analysis of CPW fed slots, which is the main scope of this paper. In order to define these basis functions, canonical equivalent geometries are identified. The accuracy and the effectiveness of the method in terms of convergence and number of unknowns is demonstrated by comparison with a standard fine mesh full-wave analysis. Moreover, due to the reduced dimension of the MoM matrix the accuracy needed in the calculation of the various mutual coupling integrals can be relaxed without introducing significant errors in the matrix inversion.
