Abstract :
In this paper, a system with two ties (AC and DC), interconnecting two large AC networks, is studied. The system includes DC control interacting with the conventional AC area controls. In this article, the stability of the network in each of the areas is controlled by two control methods. One of these methods is the model reference adaptive control method (MRAC) based on the combination of linear quadratic regulator (LQR) control and the genetic algorithm (GA) and other controller is based on the combination of pole placement control and GA. Genetic algorithm is employed to find the best values for gains of the controllers in a very short time. The simulation results show the improvement in the dynamic performance of the test AC/DC system by these controllers.
