Abstract :
Typical real-time computer vision tasks require huge amount of processing power larger than can be achieved by current state-of-the-art workstations. Parallel processing using heterogeneous SIMD-MIMD systems appears to be the only solution (economically) to obtain sufficient processing power for handling all image processing levels in real-time computer vision applications. In this paper we present the bucket processing technique to bridge the gap between the SIMD and MIMD paradigms, both in the area of programming as well as architecture
