Abstract :
The design of an extremely-high frequency (EHF) oscillator with frequency multiplication built around microwave semiconductor diodes is presented. The device is intended for use in medical applications and has to provide a higher operating frequency range, and deliver coherent emission. One way to tackle these problems is to multiply the frequency of the original highly-coherent Gunn-diode signal by a multiplier component built around a Schottky diode. The work presents the technique for designing a highly-coherent 75-160 GHz EHF EMR source on the basis of commercially available 37-40 GHz Gunn diodes and multiplier Schottky diodes manufactured under a planar technology. The suggested concept offers a cost-effective upgrade for commercially produced EHF-therapy equipment.
