  • Abstract
Effects of ultra-wideband radiation (UWBR) on isolated cells of human buccal epithelium are presented. Cells were isolated from human organism before experiment and suspension of cells was exposed during 10 seconds to UWBR of 10-6 - 10-2 W/cm2 intensity. In different periods after exposure to UWBR cells were stained with fluorescent stains Hoechst 3342 and ethidium bromide in purpose to assess their viability. The percentage of damaged cells was assessed by the standard criterion - the percentage of cells with nuclei stained red of pink by ethidium bromide. Cell exposure to UWBR of 10-4 - 10-2 W/cm2 results in increase of percentage of damaged cells. The percentage of damaged cells gradually decreases up to 3 hours after cell exposure. This phenomenon is interpreted as cell recovery after cell damage induced by UWBR. The data obtained are discussed in connection to the experimental results on UWBR upon cell nucleus structure obtained previously.
