Abstract
Neural networks are used to generate facial animation models for use in virtual reality telecommuting systems. 2-D face silhouettes are used to train and test multilayer perceptrons with backpropagation learning. This approach overcomes the problems encountered with the integration of face sensing devices and visual displays
