  • Abstract
The room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber coating on the surface of insulator may increase the flashover voltage of contaminated insulator. In this paper the flashover voltages of insulators with coating and without coating were compared under clean, dry, raining, dew and wet pollution conditions. Test results show that the RTV coated insulators have higher pollution flashover voltage than that of the uncoated insulators. The discharge phenomena along surface with or without RTV coating observed with high-speed camera were studied
