  • Abstract
The purpose of this study is to ascertain the characteristic elements in the Kaempferia Galangal L. Yangchun region, Guangdong province (South China). Thus, fourteen trace elements from soil and plants samples from the place of origin are determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES). The correlation of trace elements content between soil and plants and the Biological Absorption Coefficient are analyzed. The characteristic elements are determined by geochemistry characters of local soil. The main results show that: (1) Mg, Mn, Zn, Sb, Fe, Cu and Sr are the characteristic elements of Kaempferia Galangal L.; (2) there is a significant correlation between content of trace elements in soil and in plants; (3) the absorptive capacity of Kaempferia Galangal L. on some elements is different, however, the Biological Absorption Coefficient of the various elements correlates well with each other.
