Abstract
Compared with the electrical measurement of discharge, acoustic measurement of discharge has advantages in noise reduction and location of partial discharge sites. In this paper, a sensitive acoustic emission (AE) sensor is used to pick up ultrasonic signals produced by partial discharge in laboratory made polyethylene (PE) samples and an extruded-cable joint under high voltage were studied
