Abstract :
With overheating in the magnetic circuit, the total hydrocarbon content in a transformer is proportional to the square of the applied voltage while it is proportional to the square of the current when overheating occurs in the conductor circuit. In the paper, the total hydrocarbon ampere-volt method (THAVM) is introduced. The object of THAVM is to locate fault position by analyzing the relations between the total hydrocarbon content and the current or the applied voltage. It has proved this method is simple and economically feasible
