Abstract :
Myocardial infarction is one of the most common pathologies in Mexico. Baja California presents a high incidence. People who survive the infarct can die suddenly during the recovery process because they develop sustained malignant tachycardia. Those regularly are produced by small potentials that appear in the end part of the QRS complex and/or at the beginning of the ST segment, called ventricular late potentials (VLP). The local health sector doesn´t have the technology to detect them and to be able to predict sudden cardiac dead risk in those kinds of patients. A technological package is presented, which is integrated for a high resolution electrocardiograph (HREKG) based in a personal computer with USB communication. The system will capture, analyze, and store high resolution ECG signals (HRECG) and it will be able to detect VLP from post-infarcted patients. With this system it will be possible to produce data bases of HRECG for studying sudden cardiac dead risk in the local population.
