Abstract :
The stirring of modes in a mode stirred chamber is accomplished with the help of large cumbersome metallic paddle wheels. This method is only effective at frequencies high enough where there is a large number of propagating modes in the chamber. Besides, this is a mechanical method that can result in an increased time period for making measurements. If the paddle wheel is stepped it is necessary for the vibrations of the large paddles to die down before a reading can be taken. In this paper a different method is proposed using a set of wires placed along the lengths of the cavity. Since these wires support a transverse electromagnetic (TEM) wave they are capable of exciting and stirring the fields with no low frequency limitation. The field stirring can be achieved electronically by changing the phase and/or amplitudes among the excitation wires
