Abstract :
In order to attain better quality of supply and reliable service, power utilities have realized the value of analyzing the Non-Operational Data. In this paper, an attempt has been made to create a Data warehouse in a laboratory environment to demonstrate the power of non-operational data. Different types of fault waveforms have been generated in a model power system, transferred successfully using COMTRADE format to a utility data ware house at the control centre and are analyzed to determine the type of fault and the location of fault and many other functions to help the operation and maintenance crew. This successful implementation demonstrates the power of the data warehouse concept and also serves as a learning tool for the future power engineers and utility personnel.
