Abstract :
Studies the application of adaptively steered arrays to mobile communications, particularly, in the design of base station antennas. System design issues are briefly reviewed on the basis of integration of those methods and the impact on transmitted power, co-channel reuse distance and spectrum efficiency is emphasized. Creating selective spatial channels enables to track the angular trajectory of each mobile and to optimize the signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) of the received signals by combining (or rejecting) multipath arrivals, while cancelling the interference originated by distinct sources. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the adequacy of using array processing techniques in mobile communication systems
