Abstract :
In the paper a new predictive control technique of microprocessor based brushless drives using PM motors is proposed. Initially, the paper summarizes the mathematical model of a PM synchronous motor and a feeding algorithm imposing the constant value of the electromagnetic torque/magnitude of the current space-vector ratio. With reference to microprocessor-based controllers, the proposed predictive technique is based on the numerical evaluation of the current which would be present in the armature windings, in correspondence of each one of the possible inverter states. Among the predicted current values, the control technique selects the closest one of the reference current imposed by the feeding algorithm and consequently, modifies the state of the supply VSI inverter. The results of numerical simulation of such control of a PM motor drive are shown and compared to the corresponding ones obtained by using a hysteresis controller
