Abstract
The shielding performance of a finite extension planar shield against low frequency magnetic fields is investigated. The magnetic field is assumed to be generated by power frequency currents flowing into wire conductors and is calculated by analytical and numerical techniques, taking into account the magnetic flux leakage in the air around the shield edges and the magnetic field diffusion inside the conductive shield barrier. The calculations are compared with experimental results in simple test configurations to validate the analytical and the numerical prediction tools
