Abstract
A computer-based system that automates the process of measuring speech intelligibility with the diagnostic rhyme test (DRT) is described. The system was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of speech intelligibility enhancement techniques, but it can be used in any situation where a measure of speech intelligibility is required. Normally, the process of administering a thorough intelligibility test is tedious and timeconsuming. The computer-based system streamlines the testing procedure because it requires proctor-subject interaction, automatically records responses, computes scores, and compiles statistics in tabular and graphical format. Such a system makes rigorous intelligibility testing more feasible, providing an opportunity for efficiently obtaining accurate results
