Abstract :
A beamforming method is proposed for the wireless systems in 60 GHz band with limited feedback overhead by properly decomposing the time-domain channel impulse response matrix. The proposed scheme can substantially reduce the feedback overhead by transmitting only one beamforming vector to the transmitter, regardless of the number of subcarriers. The proposed beamforming method is based on exploiting a novel channel decomposition method to extract the beamforming vector. Simulation results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed beamforming over 60 GHz MIMO channel environment when using single spatial streams and a large number of subcarriers over 2 GHz bandwidth. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve approximately the same throughput and BER performance as the conventional schemes.
